Why consider coming to Counselling at

Adoption Counselling and Advice
As an adoptee myself, I have a ‘lived experience’ of adoption which gives me unique insights into this often difficult (isolating) area of life. If you are specifically looking for an adoption counsellor you will already be aware that there are not many who specialise in this area, and those who do, generally do not have a lived experience of adoption themselves. Therefore making it more challenging for them to understand the full and long reaching complexities of our "tribe."
For Adoptees my own experience of adoption, allows you to have counselling with someone who “truly gets” your particular and individual understanding of how an adoptees experiences life after adoption.
I am successfully working with adoption from all perspectives of this complex triangle. I am able to work with Birth / Original Parents (biological) / Siblings and extended family. Adoptive
Parents / Siblings and extended family, as well as Adoptees.
Adoption is a complex situation that needs to be handled with sensitivity, safety and grace for all parties concerned. I am able to help guide and support you through this intricate journey.
How long is a Counselling session?
Sessions run for 1 hour and during this session we can discuss the full range of your issues.
The number and frequency of future sessions will be mutually agreed upon after your initial visit and will be dependent on the nature of the concerns you are experiencing.
Rest assured that my aim is to help you find your own stability and strength, empowering you to feel comfortable moving forward in your life as quickly as possible.
It is important to remember...
Each situation you face is as unique as you are.
Therefore, results will unfold at their own pace.
In order to track your improvements and see just how far you have shifted along your healing journey I recommend you write down how you feel before beginning your counselling sessions with me. That way you can track the positive changes and improvements taking place in your life.
"My 8 year old son was suffering from anxiety and fear about storms in particular but overall also had a lot of paranoia and fear about most things. We've been seeing Kerry for a few months now and not only has his fight or flight response decreased dramatically, but he has also learnt control over fearful situations and management for self soothing with techniques Kerry has taught him. I have no doubt this would have not happened without Kerry's guidance and therapies. He looks forward to seeing her every time because he knows how relaxed and great he feels afterwards. its like a battery recharge for him and he gets stronger and stronger every time we see her. Thank you Kerry!"
Angela, Kurralta Park SA
"Kerry provides a service that is tailored to the individual. She's not interested in you coming back every week for eternity. She's interested in you moving towards your health and well-being outcomes and if that's not happening- she's not going to fluff around and keep you coming in. She's an honest practitioner with a lot of integrity and no time for dilly dallying around. You want results- this is the person to see. You want fluff chat without any movement- not the person to provide this."
Theresa, Edwardstown SA
"I always feel safe, valued and truly cared for before/during/after counselling sessions with Kerry."
Jessica, Belair SA
"FINALLY someone who truly gets me!
I have previously felt so isolated and alone - thought I was the only Adoptee
who felt like this...........!"
Liz, Brighton SA
