Imagine ten spoons were all the energy
you had available for your day.
Energy can be difficult to see. Some of us have plenty of it, others much less, and for many people the amount available can change considerably from one day to the next.
Spoon Theory uses spoons as a simple way to represent the energy we have available each day.
As your day asks things of you — getting ready, working, concentrating, caring for others, shopping, socialising or simply getting through a difficult day — some of those spoons are used.
But what uses one spoon for somebody else might use three of yours. What takes very little from you today might take considerably more tomorrow.
Understand your energy. Use it where it matters. Help the people around you understand it too.
Understanding Your Spoons is a practical, interactive workshop exploring the De-Stress and be HAPPY approach to Spoon Theory and how you can use it in your own everyday life.
Explore what your day actually asks of you, where your energy goes and how you can use the energy available to live your life as fully as possible at that time.
Your spoons can also provide a simple way to communicate something that can otherwise be difficult to explain — helping partners, family, friends and carers better understand why some days you can do more than others.
The workshop may also be useful for partners, family members, friends and carers who want to better understand the capacity of someone they support — while perhaps learning a little more about their own spoons along the way.
