Meet Kerry

Kerry, practitioner at De-Stress and be HAPPY in Brighton, Adelaide

Hello, I’m Kerry.

Before deciding whether someone is the right practitioner for you, it’s natural to want to know a little about the person you’ll be meeting.

I’d like to introduce myself, explain a little about how I work, and help you decide whether I’m the right practitioner for you.

What you can expect if we work together

My role isn’t simply to provide a particular therapy. My role is to help you better understand what’s happening in your life, what’s brought you here today, and together we’ll work out what will best support you to move forward.

Some people come to see me knowing exactly which service they’re looking for.

Others aren’t sure where to begin. If that’s you, that’s okay — we’ll work it out together.

No two people are exactly the same, so every journey is different. Each appointment is shaped by what’s happening for you and what you need at that particular time.

I certainly wasn't setting out to become a practitioner

How I came to work this way

Before working in complementary health, I spent many years in the corporate world, and that practical way of thinking has stayed with me throughout my career. My journey into this work began not as a practitioner, but as a parent searching for answers for my own family.

When my children were young, there were times when I struggled to find the answers and support our family needed. I knew I had to keep looking, and that search eventually led me to kinesiology.

My experience with kinesiology made me curious enough to want to learn more about it myself — initially simply so I could use what I learnt to support my own children. I certainly wasn’t setting out to become a practitioner. What began as learning something that helped my family gradually grew as my curiosity deepened and I continued to study and explore complementary therapies more broadly.

As other parents began noticing the changes in my children, they started asking what I was doing and whether I could work with their children too. At first, my answer was no — I was learning for my own family and wasn’t qualified to work professionally. But those requests continued, and I began to wonder whether this could become something more. To work with other people professionally, I needed to complete my qualifications, and eventually that’s what I decided to do.

What had started simply as a way to help my own children gradually became a career I had never planned — and one that has now continued for more than 25 years.

Having been the person searching for answers for my own family also taught me something that has stayed with me throughout my career. Every person arrives with their own experiences, questions and circumstances.

Wherever you’re starting from, we’ll begin there. I’ll listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, and help you make sense of what’s occurring so together we can decide what may best support you moving forward.

That same curiosity continues
to guide me today

As my practice grew, so did my learning

As I met and worked with more people, I realised there was still more for me to learn. Over time, I began noticing patterns in the stories, experiences and questions people were sharing with me.

Whenever I realised there was something I didn’t yet fully understand, I went looking for the answers. Those questions often led me towards the next area of learning, with each new area broadening my perspective and expanding the ways I could support the people who came to see me.

Over the years, I’ve continued to study across counselling and mental health, kinesiology, CranioSacral Therapy, SomatoEmotional Release, hypnotherapy, Reiki and other areas of complementary health.

Together, these different areas of study have given me a broader range of knowledge and skills to draw upon, and more possibilities for us to consider when working out what may be most appropriate for you.

It’s part of how I work with every client — remaining open, continuing to ask questions, and helping you make sense of what’s occurring, so together we can decide what may best support you.

A little about me

I live and work in the Brighton area of Adelaide, South Australia.

The beach is where you’ll often find me when I need some fresh air, time to think, or simply a walk with my dog — it’s my happy place.

Family is a big part of my life. I have three adult children and a large extended family, and I enjoy spending time with family and friends, cooking, travelling and being at home in the garden.

When life is a little quieter, you’ll often find me crocheting or pottering outside — and one day, hopefully, finally creating the veggie garden that’s been on my list for quite some time.

Wondering what it’s like to work with me?

You’ve heard a little about who I am and how I work. If you’d like to hear about the experience from the people who have actually sat on the other side of the room, you can read what clients have shared.

About Me

Kerry Heritage

My family is part of the reason I started my practice 25 + years ago when my children were young I was looking for a nurturing and holistic approach to use for their general heath care.  After looking at many options I finally found Kinesiology.  I loved its simplicity and its profoundly effective treatment protocols. I was hooked.

Suddenly I had a system of effective remedies to treat my children and other family members, as well as myself.  My life as a busy Mum got a whole lot easier using what I learned from Kinesiology.

One thing led to another and soon my friends were asking for treatments and then their friends were asking for treatments and suddenly what began as a personal hobby turned into a business.

So I decided to leave the corporate world where I had been working in marketing, training and business management for fifteen years and invest in my professional Kinesiology qualifications.

That was the beginning of my journey into the complementary health industry. Over the past twenty years I have found and added extra qualifications in other effective modalities such as  Counselling, HypnotherapyReiki, Ear Candling, Past Life RegressionCranioSacral Therapy, SomatoEmotional Release, and Sculptural Face Lift which also incorporates TMJ and Jaw IntraOral Treatments.

In the last 5 years, as the children have become more independent, I have followed my developing interests in Anxiety disorders, and have initiated working within the Mental Health and Adoption fields. (As I have a lived experience of Adoption - this is an area of work that I am very passionate about.)

Holistic therapy is not only my passion but has become a way of life for me.  Every day I see the benefits of these therapies and the enormously effective impact they have on my clients.

My business background and complex life experience has given me a diverse pool of experience to bring to my practice.  I am a proactive person who strives to empower people to live life, manage their stress and to be happy.

“Together, you and I can create the optimum health & wellbeing you have been searching for...”

I look forward be being your support person on your personal journey of discovery.
